Why Were Disposables Banned?
Single-use disposable vapes were banned across the UK on 1 June 2025, under the Environmental Protection (Single-use Vapes) Regulations. It wasn't about vaping itself. It was about waste and youth access.
The numbers made it hard to ignore. Around five million disposables were thrown away every week, most ending up in landfill rather than being recycled. Each holds a small lithium battery, and binned batteries were being linked to roughly one waste fire a day.
The bright colours and low price also made single-use vapes an easy entry point for under-18s, which the ban was designed to close off.
So the rule targets single-use devices specifically. Anything you can recharge and refill, or that uses replaceable pods, stays legal, which is everything in this collection.
What Can You Still Buy?
Plenty. The ban only removed single-use devices, so the rechargeable and refillable options are all still here.
A device is legal if it's rechargeable and uses either sealed prefilled pods you swap, or refillable pods you top up yourself. Both keep you inside UK rules: a 2ml pod limit, a 10ml bottle limit on nicotine e-liquid, and a 20mg nicotine cap.

Same idea as a prefilled kit, with one difference: instead of replacing the whole pod, you fill it yourself from a bottle of e-liquid. Refilling takes seconds and soon becomes second nature. Vape Pens
A slim, pen-shaped option that draws and feels close to a disposable. Most use a small refillable tank and a replaceable coil, so there's a little more to learn than a pod kit, but not much. Good for anyone who likes the shape of a pen and wants something light and discreet.
What to Look For When You Switch
If you're picking your first device after disposables, a few things matter more than the rest:

Puff Counts Explained
You'll see big puff-count numbers on these devices, and they're worth understanding.
A puff count is a manufacturer's estimate under ideal lab conditions. In real use, you'll usually get fewer, depending on how long and hard you draw. A device rated at 30,000 might land closer to 20,000 to 25,000 for many people.
That's still a huge amount of vaping, and higher counts mean fewer reorders and a lower cost per puff. Just treat the headline number as a guide, not a promise.

This is the part people worry about most, and there's good news.

Honestly, not much changes, and most people settle in within a day or two. There are just two small habits to pick up.
The first is charging. A disposable died when it was empty; a rechargeable kit can run low mid-day if you forget. Most charge quickly over USB-C, so keeping a cable handy for the first week sorts it.
The second, if you go refillable, is topping up the pod, which takes a few seconds. That's the whole learning curve.
