PECR Policy
When you shop with Pirate Vapes, or sign up to hear from us, you'll get the odd email our way, and this page explains the rules we follow when we send it. Those rules come from the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, usually shortened to PECR. It sits alongside the UK GDPR and covers electronic marketing, cookies, and how businesses are allowed to contact you electronically. Read it together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
The short version: we only market to you when you've said we can, or where the law allows it, we make opting out easy, and we never sell your details.
Marketing messages and service messages are not the same
Not every email from us is marketing. When you place an order we send service messages: your order confirmation, dispatch and tracking updates, anything to do with age verification, and our replies when you get in touch. Those keep your order moving, so you'll get them whatever your marketing preferences are.
Marketing is the other sort: offers, product news, and the occasional nudge. That's the part PECR governs, and the part you stay in control of.
When we'll send you marketing
We send marketing mainly by email. We do it in two situations, and no others.
You've opted in. If you sign up to Stay Updated, tick the box at checkout, or opt in when you create an account, we send you the offers and updates you asked for.
You're already a customer, under the soft opt-in. If you've bought from us before, PECR lets us email you about similar products, unless you've told us not to. We gave you the chance to say no when you ordered, and every message since carries the same option.
Either way, you set the terms. One click unsubscribes you, or you can update your preferences in your account or by dropping us a line, and the marketing stops straight away.
What actually lands in your inbox
We'd rather send you something worth opening than clog up your inbox. In practice that usually means a welcome message when you join, a reminder if you've left something sitting in your basket, and the odd offer or a heads-up when something new lands. We keep the frequency sensible.
Cookies
PECR also covers cookies and similar technologies. We only set non-essential cookies with your consent, which you give or decline through the cookie banner on your first visit. The full detail, including the cookies we use and how to change your mind later, is in our Cookie Policy.
What Pirate Vapes won't do
We don't sell your details to anyone, and we won't pass them to other companies to push their own products at you without your say-so. We keep our lists current, act on opt-outs quickly, and only contact you through the channels you'd expect from a UK vape shop you've chosen to buy from.
Your rights
On top of your PECR protections, the UK GDPR gives you rights over your personal data, including the right to object to direct marketing at any time. Our Privacy Policy covers all of it, including how to make a request and how to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you're ever unhappy with how we've handled your data.
