TPD Compliance

Every nicotine and vaping product we sell at Pirate Vapes meets the UK rules that govern these products. This page explains what those rules are and how we follow them, so you can buy with confidence that what you are getting is legal and genuine.

What the TPD and TRPR are

The Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) set out Europe-wide standards for vaping and nicotine products. In the UK, these standards are written into law as the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (TRPR), which continue to apply after Brexit. The rules are overseen by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). All of our nicotine-containing products comply with them.

The rules we follow

• Nicotine strength is capped at 20mg/ml. No nicotine e-liquid we sell is stronger than this.

• Refill bottles are limited to 10ml. Nicotine-containing e-liquid bottles cannot hold more than 10ml.

• Tanks and pods are limited to 2ml. The e-liquid capacity of a tank or pod is capped at 2ml.

• Products are notified to the MHRA. Every nicotine-containing product and device must be submitted to the MHRA and listed before it can be sold in the UK.

• Packaging is child-resistant and tamper-evident. This reduces the risk to children and shows whether a product has been opened.

• Labelling carries the required health warning. Nicotine products display the statutory warning: "This product contains nicotine which is a highly addictive substance."

• Ingredient and emissions information is provided. Products include the required information leaflet and ingredient details.

• Banned additives are not used. Certain additives, such as colourings that colour the vapour, caffeine, and taurine, are not permitted in nicotine e-liquids.

We only sell MHRA-notified products

We stock products that appear on the MHRA Notified Products List. This means each one has been through the notification process required before sale in the UK. Treat Verse Ltd sources its stock from authorised UK suppliers and distributors, so you can be confident the products are genuine.

No single-use disposables

Single-use disposable vapes were banned across the UK on 1 June 2025. Our range is fully rechargeable or refillable, and we do not sell single-use disposables.

Nicotine-free products

Products that contain no nicotine, such as 0mg e-liquids, sit outside some of the requirements above, including MHRA notification, because those rules apply to nicotine-containing products. They are still sold to adults aged 18 and over only.

Age restriction

These products are for adults aged 18 and over. We verify the age of every customer before dispatch. You can read more on our Age Verification page.
