A Geekvape mod is a regulated box device that powers a separate tank or atomiser through a standard 510 connection. The mod holds the battery, the chipset, and the controls. The tank holds the e-liquid and the coil.
That split is what makes a mod different from a pod kit or an old disposable. You choose the tank, you choose the coil, and you dial the power to suit. Most of the range sits under box mods, and Geekvape's models also appear across our wider vape mods listings.
Geekvape has built its name on this format since 2017, and the Aegis series is still the lineup people picture first when the brand is mentioned.
Why Are Geekvape Aegis Mods So Durable?
Durability is the whole pitch. The Aegis range carries an IP rating (IP68 on the recent Legend models, IP67 on several Solo and Mini kits) covering water, dust and shock resistance.
In plain terms, that means splashes, rain and a fall onto a hard floor are the sort of thing the chassis is designed to handle. The bodies use aluminium alloy with rubberised armour and sealed battery doors, which is why builders and outdoor workers gravitated to them early on.
Inside, Geekvape runs its own AS chipset. The newer AS Chip 4.0 is built to keep power delivery steady as the battery drains, so the vape stays consistent rather than tailing off. It also drives features like ECO mode and a memory function that stores your preferred settings.
Which Geekvape Mod Should You Choose?
The range splits mainly by how much power and battery you want to carry. Bigger sub-ohm clouds need more wattage and more cells. All-day pocket use leans towards something lighter.
#table
Tier: Battery pattern: Best suited to
Legend line: Dual removable 18650, up to 200W: Sub-ohm cloud chasing and higher-wattage tanks
Solo line: Single removable 18650, around 100W: Balanced all-day vaping in a lighter body
Mini / compact: Built-in battery, lower wattage: Simple pocket use with less to carry
Use this as a guide rather than a fixed spec sheet. The full brand range, including pod kits and tanks, sits under Geekvape vape kits.
What Tank and Coils Fit a Geekvape Mod?
Because Geekvape mods use a threaded 510 connection, they take almost any 510 tank, not just Geekvape's own. That is one of the main reasons people stick with a mod: you are not locked into a single pod.
Geekvape's natural pairing is the Z sub-ohm tank series, running Z coils. Match the coil resistance to the wattage range printed on it, and you get the flavour and vapour that coil was built for.
For replacements, head to Geekvape coils. If you fancy a different pairing, our DTL tanks cover other 510 options for direct-to-lung vaping.
What Batteries Do Geekvape Mods Take?
This depends on the model. Legend mods run two removable 18650 cells. Solo mods take a single removable 18650. Compact Mini-style kits usually have a built-in battery charged over USB-C.
For the removable-battery mods, batteries are sold separately. Use quality cells in matched pairs where two are needed, keep the wraps undamaged, and carry spares in a case rather than loose in a pocket.
Stock up on cells from vape batteries, and grab a spare lead from chargers and cables so you are never caught out.
How Do You Set Up a Geekvape Sub-Ohm Mod?
Getting a mod running is quick once you have done it once. The one step people skip is priming the coil, and that is usually why a fresh coil tastes burnt.
- Fit your coil into the tank and add a drop or two of e-liquid directly onto the cotton to prime it.
- Fill the tank with your chosen e-liquid and screw it back together.
- Insert charged batteries the right way round, or charge a built-in mod fully first.
- Set the wattage inside the range printed on the coil.
- Let the tank stand for five to ten minutes so the coil soaks through.
- Take a couple of gentle draws to start, then vape as normal.
Sub-ohm tanks are usually run with 0mg high-VG shortfills for bigger clouds. If you want nicotine, add it within legal strength, which we cover next.
Are Geekvape Mods Legal in the UK?
Yes. A refillable, rechargeable mod with a replaceable coil is exactly the reusable format UK law points buyers towards, especially since single-use disposable vapes were banned from sale on 1 June 2025.
The mod itself contains no nicotine. That sits in the e-liquid you add. Nicotine e-liquid is capped at 20mg/ml and sold in bottles up to 10ml, while shortfills over 10ml are nicotine-free. Any nicotine e-liquid we stock is MHRA-notified before it goes on sale.
Worth saying plainly: compliant is not the same as safe. These are age-restricted nicotine products for existing adult vapers, and every checkout at Pirate Vapes is age-verified.
