What are vape pods?
A pod is the small container that holds your e-liquid and clicks into a pod device. On most kits it also holds the coil, so the pod is doing two jobs at once: storing the flavour and heating it into vapour.
Pods come in two forms. Prefilled pods arrive ready-loaded with flavour, and you swap them when they're spent. Refillable pods come empty for you to fill from a bottle, over and over. Either way, when a pod is done, you replace the pod rather than the whole device, which is what keeps pod kits cheap and simple to run.

Pods vs Pod Kits
It's worth clearing up the difference, because the words get mixed up.
A pod kit is the whole device: the battery plus the pod. A pod is just the replaceable part that clicks into it. You buy the kit once, then buy pods, or e-liquid, as the consumable part. Getting the two straight saves ordering the wrong thing.

The Types of Pod
Pods split by whether they come filled.
Prefilled pods
Ready-loaded with flavour and swapped whole when spent. The simplest option: no filling, just click in a fresh one. Prefilled nicotine pods are capped at 2ml under UK rules, and they're the natural choice if you want the least effort.
Refillable pods
Empty pods you fill with your own e-liquid, again and again. Cheaper over time and open to any flavour. Some have a replaceable coil inside; others are all-in-one and replaced whole once the coil wears out. The best-value option if you're happy to do the filling.

Coils in Pods
Here's where pods and coils overlap, and it's worth knowing which type you have.
On many pods, the coil is built in, so a fresh pod is a fresh coil, and you replace the whole pod when the flavour fades. On others, the pod takes a separate replaceable coil, so you swap just the coil and keep the pod for longer.

How to Fit and Fill a Pod
It only takes a minute:
• For a prefilled pod, click it into the device until it seats, leave it a couple of minutes, then vape
• For a refillable pod, open the fill port, tip the e-liquid down the side rather than into the central airflow, fill to just below the top, and close it
• With a new pod or a fresh coil, let it soak for five minutes before the first puff so it primes properly and doesn't taste burnt
That soak time is the bit people skip, and it's the difference between a clean first vape and a harsh one.
Finding the Right Pod for Your Device
This is the whole game with pods, so it's worth getting right.
Pods only fit the device they're made for. A Vaporesso pod won't go in a SMOK, a Hayati pod won't fit a Lost Mary, and so on. There's no universal pod. If you're not sure what your kit is, the name is usually printed on the device or the original pod. If in doubt, check before you buy rather than guess, since a pod for the wrong device simply won't seal or connect.

How long that takes depends on how much you vape and the e-liquid you use, usually a few days to a couple of weeks. Sweet, dark flavours wear a pod out faster. Keeping a spare pack in the drawer means you're never caught out mid-vape with an empty pod.
How to Choose the Right Pod
Start with your device, since that decides which pods fit. Then choose your flavour and, for prefilled pods, your strength. If your kit takes refillable pods with a choice of coil, pick the resistance that matches how you vape: lower for more vapour, higher for a tighter draw.
