Smok Mag-18 Vape Kit - Gunmetal Gold is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Smok Mag-18 Vape Kit
This is not a pod kit. The Mag-18 is a full sub-ohm mod with a TFV Mini V2 tank bolted on top and 230W available from dual 18650 batteries. It is built for DTL vapers who want big clouds, warm draws, and a device that feels like a proper bit of hardware in the hand.
The magazine-style grip is the same design SMOK has used since the original Mag series, ergonomic and easy to fire with your thumb. An IQ-X chipset runs the show, a 0.96-inch TFT screen shows your settings, and the tank fills from a sliding top cap. Two mesh coils in the box. Pirate Vapes ships it tracked with age-verified UK delivery.
Why do vapers choose this:
-
230W of power from a dual 18650 mod. More than most people will ever use, but it is there if you want it.
-
IQ-X chipset fires fast and keeps things stable even at high wattages.
-
TFV Mini V2 tank with mesh coils out of the box. Decent flavour and clouds without buying anything extra.
-
Magazine-style grip with a leather panel. Sits in the hand naturally and thumb-fires without thinking about it.
-
510 thread connection. You can swap the TFV Mini V2 for another tank down the line if you want to.
-
Two coil options included. One for flavour, one for clouds. Try both before you decide.

Smok Mag-18 Vape Kit Features
Magazine-Style Grip
SMOK has been doing this grip since the first Mag mod, and they have got it dialled in by now. The battery compartment doubles as the handle, angled so the device sits in your palm at a natural tilt. There is a leather panel on the grip side for texture, and the fire button falls right under your thumb without reaching. If you have ever held one of the earlier Mag kits, this is that, refined. It is a big device. It is not pretending to be a pod kit. But it is comfortable for what it is.
230W and the IQ-X Chipset
Most DTL vapers will run this between 40 and 80W on the coils that come with it. You can push it to 230W if you fit a coil that handles it, but in practice, the headroom is about having consistent power delivery rather than actually running at full whack. The IQ-X chipset is SMOK's mid-range board.
It fires quickly, reads resistance accurately, and includes variable wattage mode so you can dial in exactly what you want. The 0.96-inch TFT screen is bright and shows wattage, resistance, puff count, and both battery levels side by side. Easy to read even outside.
TFV Mini V2 Tank
The tank holds 2ml under UK TPD rules. It fills from a sliding top cap, which is quick and mostly mess-free once you get used to the motion. The airflow ring sits at the base and adjusts from a tight-ish restricted DTL to a fully open lung hit.
Two coils ship with the kit. The 0.15Ω Mini V2 S1 is the cloud coil, pre-installed and ready to go. The 0.2Ω Mini V2 A2 is the spare, with slightly less vapour, but some people find the flavour a touch better on it. Both are mesh. A spare glass tube is included in case you crack the first one.
Replaceable 18650 Batteries
Two 18650 cells sit inside the magazine-style grip. They are not included. You need to buy them separately, and you want high-drain cells rated at 25A or above for a mod that runs up to 230W. The benefit of external batteries is the same as always: when they die, you swap them. No waiting for a charge. Carry a spare pair, and you are never without power. You can charge inside the device over USB-C at up to 2A, or use a standalone battery charger if you already have one.
510 Thread Connection
The Mag-18 is not locked to the TFV Mini V2. It has a standard 510 thread, which means you can screw on most sub-ohm tanks, RTAs, or RDAs from other brands if you fancy something different later. That gives the mod a longer life than a pod kit. You are buying a platform, not a disposable setup.
What E-Liquid to Use
High VG. 70/30 or thicker. This is a sub-ohm DTL kit with mesh coils, and it wants thick Shortfill E-Liquids. Fruits, desserts, menthols, whatever you prefer, just keep the VG high. Do not put nic salts or thin 50/50 Liquids through the Mini V2 coils. They will flood the tank and spit. If you want to vape nic salts, this is the wrong kit. Browse our E-Liquid Range at Pirate Vapes for shortfills that work well with sub-ohm setups.
How to Set Up the Smok Mag-18 Vape Kit
-
Open the battery compartment and fit two 18650 batteries with the positive and negative ends matching the markings inside. Close the door firmly.
-
Thread the 0.15Ω Mini V2 S1 coil into the base of the TFV Mini V2 tank if it is not already pre-installed. Drip a few drops of e-liquid onto the mesh through the top of the coil. That is priming.
-
Slide the top cap open, fill the tank with up to 2ml of high-VG e-liquid, and slide it shut.
-
Screw the tank onto the 510 connection on the mod. Let it stand for five to ten minutes so the coil soaks.
-
Press the fire button five times to turn on. Set your wattage using the up and down buttons. For the 0.15Ω coil, start around 40W and work up. For the 0.2Ω, try 30 to 40W. Vape.
Same rule as always: skip the soak and you burn the coil on the first draw. A burnt mesh coil is done.

About SMOK
SMOK has been making mods and tanks for over a decade and is probably the single most recognised brand in sub-ohm vaping worldwide. The Mag series is one of their longest-running lines, and the magazine-style grip has become a signature design.
The TFV Mini V2 tank is a reliable performer with widely available coils, and the IQ-X chipset has been through enough iterations that SMOK have worked the kinks out. It is not the flashiest or the most innovative kit on the market in 2026, but it is solid, well-priced, and the coils are easy to find. For a lot of DTL vapers, that is exactly what matters.
Stock Up and Save
The kit ships with two coils. That is a few weeks of vaping at best. After that you are buying Mini V2 replacements regularly. Grab a three-pack of coils, a pair of 18650 batteries, and a shortfill alongside the kit and your first month is sorted.
Everything from Pirate Vapes goes out in plain packaging, tracked to your door, age-verified checkout, 18+ delivery. Crew Rewards points build on every order. If you want coils on repeat, The Crow's Nest at Pirate Vapes handles that automatically with a saving.
Conclusion
The Mag-18 is a 230W dual-18650 mod kit with a TFV Mini V2 tank, mesh coils, IQ-X chipset, adjustable airflow, and a sliding top-fill. It is built for DTL vapers who want clouds and flavour from High-VG Shortfills and are not interested in something small and discreet.
The magazine-style grip sits well in the hand, the 510 thread means you can change the tank whenever you want, and the replaceable batteries mean you are never stuck waiting for a charge. Just remember: no batteries in the box. Grab a kit from Pirate Vapes with tracked, age-verified UK delivery.
FAQs
Does it come with batteries?
No. The Mag-18 takes two 18650 batteries, sold separately. Use high-drain cells rated at 25A or above.
What coils does it use?
SMOK TFV Mini V2 coils. It is also compatible with SMOK Baby V2 coils. The kit ships with a 0.15Ω S1 and a 0.2Ω A2. Both are mesh.
What e-liquid should I use?
High-VG shortfills. 70/30 or higher. Do not use nic salts or thin 50/50 liquids. The sub-ohm coils will flood.
Is this an MTL kit?
No. It is DTL only. The tank, the coils, and the wattage are all designed for direct-to-lung vaping on thick e-liquids. If you want MTL, look at a pod kit instead.
Can I use a different tank?
Yes. The mod has a standard 510 thread connection, so most sub-ohm tanks, RTAs, and RDAs from other brands will fit.
How do I charge it?
USB-C at up to 2A. A cable is included. You can also charge the batteries in a standalone external charger if you prefer.
How heavy is it?
About 165g without batteries. With two 18650 cells fitted, it will be closer to 260g. It is a substantial device.
How big is it?
90mm tall, 63.5mm wide, 32.5mm deep for the mod body. Add the tank on top, and it stands noticeably taller. This is not a pocket-sized kit.
Is this good for a beginner?
Honestly, probably not as a first kit. It is high-powered, needs external batteries, and the tank wants high-VG liquids. A simpler refillable pod kit would be a better starting point. But if you have some experience and want to step up to sub-ohm, it is well-suited.
Does Pirate Vapes stock the coils?
Yes. SMOK Mini V2 coils are in our SMOK range at Pirate Vapes. Grab a spare pack with the kit.
