MORPH-Mesh Heating Element

The mesh strip inside each GTX coil is not flat. Vaporesso shapes it into a MORPH-Mesh pattern that increases the surface area in contact with the cotton. More heated surface means more liquid gets vaporised per puff, which is why GTX coils tend to produce stronger flavour than older round-wire alternatives. The pattern also distributes heat more evenly, which helps the coil last longer before hot spots develop and burn the cotton.

Press-Fit Installation (No Threading)

GTX coils push into the base of the pod or tank. There is no screw thread. Line the coil up and press down until it seats. To remove, pull straight out. The press-fit design is faster than threaded coils and eliminates the cross-threading problem that can damage both the coil and the tank. If you have used Innokin Z Coils or Aspire BVC coils, the GTX fit is different. No turning required.

Triple Silicone O-Ring Seal (GTX-2 Versions)

The updated GTX-2 coils (marked on the packaging) have three silicone O-rings instead of two. One at the top, one in the middle, one at the base. The extra ring creates a tighter seal against the pod or tank walls, which reduces the leaking that earlier GTX coils occasionally suffered from. GTX-2 coils fit the same devices as the originals. The improvement is in the seal, not the shape.

NiCr and Kanthal Mesh Across the Range

Vaporesso splits the mesh material by resistance. The 0.15, 0.2, and 0.3-ohm coils use nickel-chromium (NiCr) mesh, which ramps up to temperature faster. This matters at the higher wattages these coils run at.

The 0.6, 0.8, and 1.2-ohm coils use FeCrAl (Kanthal) mesh, which heats more gradually and suits the lower wattages of MTL and RDL vaping. Both materials deliver clean flavour. The difference is in how fast the coil reaches its operating temperature.

COREX Microfibre Cotton with Flax Blend

The wicking inside every GTX coil is not standard cotton. Vaporesso blends microfibre cotton with flax fibre in what they call the COREX wick. The flax component absorbs liquid faster, which shortens the priming time and reduces the chance of dry hits when the liquid level is low. Vaporesso also claims the newer wicking has antibacterial properties for longer-lasting freshness, though real-world impact will vary.

How to Set Up the Vaporesso GTX Coils

1. Remove the pod or tank base. On Luxe XR pods, pull the base straight off. On GTX tanks, unscrew the bottom cap.

2. Pull the old coil out. GTX coils are press-fit. Grip the coil and pull it straight out of the base. No unscrewing needed.

3. Push the new coil in. Take a fresh GTX coil from the 5-pack. Line it up with the socket in the base and press firmly until it clicks into place. You will feel it seat.

4. Prime (recommended). Drop 2-3 drops of e-liquid onto the cotton visible through the mesh openings. This pre-saturates the wick and prevents a dry first draw.

5. Reassemble. Snap the base back onto the pod, or screw the cap back onto the tank.

6. Fill. Add your e-liquid through the fill port. Match the VG ratio to your coil resistance.

7. Wait five minutes. Let the filled pod or tank sit so the COREX cotton fully absorbs the liquid. Mesh coils need the full five minutes.

8. Vape. Fire at the recommended wattage for your resistance. Start at the lower end and work up.

FAQs

Which GTX coil should I start with? 

Depends on how you vape. For MTL with nic salts, go with the 0.8Ω at 12-16W. For DTL with shortfills, the 0.2Ω at 45-60W is the most popular choice. The 0.6Ω sits in between if you are not sure.

Are GTX coils the same as GTi coils? 

No. GTX and GTi are completely different coil platforms. GTX coils press into pod kits like the Luxe XR and compact devices like the Gen Nano. GTi coils thread into sub-ohm tanks (iTank T, iTank 2) on higher-power mods like the Armour S. They do not interchange. 

Do these fit the XROS? 

No. The XROS series uses sealed COREX pods with the coil built in. You cannot install a GTX coil into an XROS pod. If you own an XROS, you need XROS replacement pods.

How long does each coil last? 

One to two weeks for most daily vapers. Some users report three to four weeks at lower wattages with less sweet liquids. Sweet e-liquids and chain vaping shorten coil life.

Do the 0.15Ω coils fit the Luxe XR? 

Only if the device can handle 60-75W. The Luxe XR maxes out at 40W, which is not enough for the 0.15Ω. The Luxe XR Max (80W) and Luxe XR Max 2 (80W) can run it. Check your device's maximum wattage before ordering.

Why does my coil taste burnt after one day? 

Most likely it was not primed properly, or the wattage is set too high for the resistance. Also check that you are using the right VG ratio. High VG in a 1.2-ohm MTL coil will not wick fast enough and will cause dry hits that damage the cotton.
